Creating from Isle-aux-Coudres
After a month-long artist residency in the Mingan Archipelago, I return to Isle-aux-Coudres with a transformed perspective.
In Mingan, my attention shifted toward the smallest details, revealing miniature worlds: mosses, lichens, roots and vegetation shaped by wind and time. Here, my gaze opens once again to the immensity of the St. Lawrence River, the tides, the light and ever-changing horizons.
These two territories now nourish my research and are slowly beginning to find their way into my work.
As my new studio takes shape, I observe, I let things in... and then I create.

For one month, artist Catherine Plante and I took part in a research and creation residency in Havre-Saint-Pierre and the Mingan Archipelago.
Island excursions, observation of the land, studio research and encounters shaped an experience that continues to transform the way I see and the way I work.

Every creation begins long before the first mark.
On Quarry Island, my attention was drawn to a detail of its remarkable rock formation: a small world of vegetation, textures and intertwined branches.
Among them, a long stem of Labrador tea was reaching for the light. This form, which would catch my attention again throughout my explorations, was already beginning to find its way into my work.
This short video follows the passage from observation in the landscape to a study created back in the studio.
